Mamsha Al Saadiyat is an exclusive address at the heart of the world’s new Cultural District.Aldar

Nearly three years after opening their first three-concept store, LOCAL has unveiled its long awaited second venue at Abu Dhabi’s premium waterfront destination, Mamsha Al Saadiyat.

Be prepared to be amazed as this new space certainly has the wow factor. First impressions are key and this store has so many unique design features that it’s hard to know where to look first. The attention to detail is exceptional, your eye is immediately drawn to the bespoke glass coffee counter and the greenhouse inspired barbershop. Look around and you see a real palm tree housed inside a circular table, state of the art under counter Mavam coffee machine, concrete topped communal bench and even a concealed bathroom.

Co-founders Jack and brothers Jasmin and Zayed engaged Abu Dhabi design duo Shell + Core to work alongside them to once again bring their vision to life. Its beachfront aesthetic can be seen in elements of the design with its sandy colour palette, wavy reflective glass and scattered pebbles and in the new exclusive LOCAL Mamsha range. T-shirts and tote in beach inspired colours featuring palm trees and wave details.

It’s a light, plant filled space using natural materials combined with concrete, exposed brick, reflective surfaces, integrated lighting and light slatted wood. Like the original space, the iconic LOCAL blue neon is displayed above the coffee bar. Once the temperature drops there will be outdoor seating to sit and enjoy coffee overlooking the ocean.

This homegrown concept features a speciality coffee shop, in-house barbershop and a lifestyle retail space. Peruse the displays for popular brands such as Carhartt, glasses and sunglass from Matsuda, Suicoke sandals and Dubai’s amongst few. Pick up some Grown Alchemist skincare, botanical suncream from LA brand Salt & Stone, covetable candles from Sydney’s Provider Store, Japanese To-Go tumblers from Kinto and LOCAL embossed ceramics from Oka Ceramic Studio. You can also pick up brand publications Drift and B magazine.

LOCAL will be serving speciality coffee from Prolog along with teas, cold drinks and a range of artisanal sandwiches and pastries from Abu Dhabi’s artisan bakery Miche. The new store will be open daily from 9am – midnight .

With an already established clientele from the busy Al Zeina branch, the new barbershop will offer the same full range of services from a regular trim to the more specialised skin fade, full cut-throat shave and boys cuts. A full range of premium hair and beard products are also available to purchase and clients get a complimentary coffee with every service.

The opening may have been delayed but believe me it’s been worth the wait. These three young entrepreneurs have yet again raised the bar. LOCAL at Mamsha Al Saadiyat is well designed and a great place to hang out, work and drink good coffee with the added bonus of beachfront views.
