Greeted with a glass of bubbly upon entry is always a welcome start to any occasion, the Friday Garden Brunch at Filini Garden certainly has all the ingredients of a successful and sociable afternoon. There’s flower crowns for the ladies, a live saxophonist, cocktails aplenty and tasty Italian cuisine served both buffet style and at the table. With the end of alfresco dining nearly upon us for this season it’s definitely worth checking out the Garden Brunch before the terrace closes for summer.
A lush leafy pergola leads guests into the open-air garden terrace with it’s stunning views over Yas Links fairways and the water beyond. It’s an insta worthy venue where vertical garden meets industrial style; on-trend oversized hanging light bulbs, metal bar stools and wooden tables are used to create the stylish concept. Diners can select a booth on the lower deck, grab a table near the bar or choose to sit inside the air conditioned restaurant.
Live stations inside the restaurant offer brunchers Italian favourites such as fresh salads, an array of cheeses (burrata fans will not be disappointed), a varied charcuterie selection and all manner of breads displayed on a traditional scooter. Hone your bartending skills at the do-it-yourself gin and tonic station that proved popular in our group or indulge in a handcrafted cocktail, some free-flowing beers and wines or all of the above.
A further four courses of dishes were served to the table; bruschettas and more antipasti followed by slices of vegetarian pizza, lobster ravioli, tomato tagliatelle topped with veal bacon along with a walnut and pecorino risotto. Lamb chops with truffle mash, baby chicken peperonata and grilled seafood for main course options. I couldn’t see the Cacio e Pepe live station where the chef prepares pasta on a giant wheel of parmigiano reggiano, not sure if just wasn’t available on our visit or whether I just missed it.
I sure didn’t miss the dessert buffet with its tempting range of Italian favourites. The tiramisu was a worthy contender for best dish but there’s plenty of choices to suit all sweet tooths, the gelato was also good as was the selection of cheeses once the accompanying crackers had been sourced from somewhere else in the hotel. The brunch is good for veggies, ideal for larger parties looking for a party but is also family-friendly whatever the age of your children.
Fresco Fridays, the after-brunch party, lets the fun continue from 4pm to 8pm for only AED 100 you can kick back and listen to some tunes courtesy of the resident DJ accompanied by the sax while enjoying unlimited house beverages. Grab a sundowner and enjoy the sunset at this stunning vista, it’s a no brainer.
Since it opened at the end of last year Filini Garden has been attracting a lot of attention, it is by far, in my humble opinion of course, the best venue the Radisson Blu has to offer. If you are a fan of Italian food, unlimited drinks and gorgeous locations then the Garden Brunch at this trendy Yas Island location is your kind of place.
