Cho Gao Sushi Bar | Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi

A 21st century eatery combined with the creativity, energy and senses of ancient Asian culture.” Cho Gao

Sushi fans are in for a treat at the new sushi bar that’s opened right in the heart of the city. Currently showcasing its Taste of Japan menu, the intimate Cho Gao Sushi Bar is located within the popular Cho Gao restaurant at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi. This new venture offers guests a selection of colourful, well presented and authentic sashimi, nigiri, sushi, maki rolls and salads alongside the restaurant’s normal a la carte menu.

Expect aesthetically pleasing platters of fresh fish with slivers of vegetables, fresh ginger and spicy wasabi. With ten types of house rolls to choose from there’s something for all tastes including caramel maki, crispy crust maki roll, unagi roll (eel and crab), california rolls, spicy salmon and tuna to name a few, there’s plenty of vegetarian options available too. The crispy volcano salad is a delightful spicy creation of dressed shrimp, crabstick, edamame and pear.

Dark and mysterious the small sushi bar at the back of the main restaurant embraces elements of Japanese design. Just a small twelve-seated venue with an additional six diners welcomed at the bar itself, a prime position for an interactive experience to watch and learn the art of sushi making by Chef Indra Shrestha and the talented Cho Gao team.

In addition to the sushi diners can indulge in a wide selection of Far Eastern cuisine and with a new head chef Areewan Larpnikornkul at the helm it’s exciting times for Cho Gao. The pan-Asian menu includes signature and classic dishes such as stir fries, noodles, curries and satay from China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. A new dessert selection includes a bitter chocolate cake, apple pie with ginger ice-cream, lychee pannacotta mango smear and banana cake topped with a melting chocolate ball.

Cho Gao which means ‘Rice Market’ in Vietnamese has an authentic interior with an essence of an ancient Far Eastern den meets traditional dim sum house right here on busy Hamdan Street. The traditional style sushi bar adds another string to the award-winning restaurant’s bow, if you like your sushi fresh and affordable grab your chopsticks and head into the city.
