Sunday is the new Saturday here in the UAE and LPM Restaurant & Bar Abu Dhabi offers a stylish Rivieria-inspired Sunday brunch. La Vie en Rosé Brunch is a showcase of LPM’s French-Mediterranean cuisine and its extensive rosé wine collection.

The restaurant is throwing things back to a traditional Sunday brunch, a stylish leisurely affair served in a chic Parisian style setting. Celebrating LPM’s sharing concept, the brunch menu offers classic, rich dishes influenced by cuisine from the South of France and Italy paired with hand crafted mocktails, cocktails and premium beverages. Unlimited starters are served to the table with the highlight for us being the delicious burrata and tomato toast. Other notable dishes included snails with garlic butter, soft scrambled eggs, salmon carpaccio and crispy squid with paprika & green chili.

Mains are selected individually along with one side dish. Our party of four chose grilled sirloin steaks, sea bream fillet with pistou & peppers and a mushroom risotto. I recommend ordering the gratin dauphinois (baked gratinated potatoes), a simple but tasty dish. Other main course choices are roast baby chicken marinated in lemon and a spicy arrabbiata pasta.

Along with the burrata, my other favourite dish of the brunch was the warm chocolate mousse served with malt ice cream. This was a popular choice on our table with three of us choosing and devouring this delight. We also sampled the popular LPM cheesecake and other options are a pistachio cake with cherry sauce & honey ice-cream or French toast. Fans of a liquid dessert can try the tiramisu martini, a sweet take on the espresso martini.

There are three packages available: A Mocktail Life with LPM mocktails (AED 375), A Life with Cocktails & Wines (AED 450) that we opted for which includes LPM signature cocktails, wines and beers. There’s also A Sparkling Life (AED 575) that includes free-flowing sparkling Provencal rosé.

The food was well presented and tasty, being able to reorder favourite starters was definitely a bonus. However the drinks service was so slow and definitely not flowing, at one point we had to visit the bar ourselves to get some more drinks.

LPM Abu Dhabi offers fine dining with a more relaxed and casual vibe. The graffiti covered entrance could not be further from the elegant fine dining set up below. We choose to sit in the restaurant, a light white space that resembles a gallery with its walls adorned with colourful modern art. Alternatively diners can opt to sit outside on the waterfront terrace. Overall I enjoyed the brunch but would have preferred a more attentive drinks service and less sass when we asked for the bill.
