“Overlooking the brilliant turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, Beirut Sur Mer welcomes guests to experience a fresh culinary escape to Lebanon.” Beirut Sur Mer
As dining locations go you cannot beat Beirut Sur Mer at Mamsha Al Saadiyat. Taking you on a culinary trip to the Levant, this upscale restaurant offers well-presented, tasty Lebanese food, botanical inspired decor and an outdoor terrace with ocean views.

While the decor may be a sensory overload, the food is a party for your tastebuds. The menu is vast, the dishes are flavoursome and well presented and they serve alcohol which if you indulge, is a welcome bonus. As expected there’s plenty of Lebanese classics such as hummus, moutabal, tabbouleh, kofta and shawarma croquettes as well as signature specialties and mixed grills*. Everything we sampled looked and tasted great. Tlameh, the restaurant’s own interpretation of manakish, is created using their special dough recipe and home cooked style. There’s plenty of vegetarian dishes too, a variety of salads for a lighter bite and good breakfast and bakery options.

There’s several desserts to choose from along with fresh fruit and milk shakes such as chocolate oreo or lotus cream frap. We were treated to a dessert show at our table, the construction of the restaurant’s newest sweet treat, a sharing Baklava with pistachio, honey and cream encased and drizzled with more honey and topped with black cherries. Definitely the dish for those with a sweet tooth. An extensive drinks menu offers signature cocktails, mocktails, beer, wines and spirits as well as hot and cold drinks.

The interior walls are striking, hand-painted blossom decorates the walls while the space is draped with botanicals and accessories, outside pink and blue patterned seats are complemented by large terracotta pots filled with vibrant flowers. The piece de resistance is the terrace, the perfect spot for dining with family and friends. Sunset drinks and/or shisha while enjoying the seascape is a must.

This is the MBT group’s first foray into the capital’s restaurant scene and under the experienced management and guidance of former IHG executive chef Danny Katar, Beirut Sur Mer is flourishing. I’ve been twice now and enjoyed both visits, the location is perfect, the food is great and the service, although a little testy at times, was attentive. If you are looking for that relaxed vacation vibe this is the venue for you. Book ahead, especially if you want to dine alfresco or at weekends, as it’s extremely popular right now.
