“One of the wonderful things about Sussex ceremonies are that they’re unpredictable and kind of raucous, and energetic and energising and who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?” Sanjeev Bhaskar OBE
So it was time for the youngest member of the family to graduate from the University of Sussex after gaining her degree in Law. Another proud and emotional day as we celebrated this momentous occasion with family and friends.
The ceremony itself took place in the transformed Brighton Centre opposite the iconic burnt out West Pier. Proceedings were led by the university’s Chancellor, well known TV actor Sanjeev Bhaskar OBE, a humorous man who gave entertaining opening and closing speeches. Bhaskar, a self confessed hugger, greeted most candidates with an embrace as they nervously graced the stage one by one. Bhaskar himself received a surprise honorary degree to mark his 10th year as the University’s Chancellor at the last ceremony of the week.
After a glass of bubbly at the reception we headed to the seafront to take the obligatory family, fellow graduate and mortar board throwing photos. We finished up at The Ivy in The Lanes to continue the celebrations (read more about The Ivy HERE). Here’s a look at the day in pictures….
