Top 10 Treats For Your Mum on Mother’s Day | Abu Dhabi

Celebrate Mother’s day wherever you are in the world.Unknown

It’s that time of year to celebrate the mothership and show your mum how much she means to you. It doesn’t have to be about expensive gifts, although us mums do love a handpicked card with a sincere message. Without a doubt the best gift is time, spending time with your mother to make memories is the most invaluable gift of all.

It can be confusing when you are an expat as internationally Mother’s Day is celebrated on different dates. UAE Mother’s Day is on Thursday 21st March and Mother’s Day in the UK is coming up at the end of the month on Sunday 31st March.

Should you wish to spoil your mum by treating her to a special gift or experience here’s my top tips of experiences in the capital to either enjoy with your mother or to gift her.

The Queen of Hearts afternoon tea served at the Crystal Lounge in The St. Regis Abu Dhabi celebrates this timeless ritual with sweet and savory delicacies served on the bone china with crustless sandwiches and scones accompanied by tea infusions.

It’s also a time to remember those without their mother, the motherless mothers who find this day harder than most. My own mother passed away on 21st March 1993, Mother’s Day in the UK that year, and that prompted me, several years later, to get involved with the Motherless Mother’s Book project, ‘Without My Mum’ by Leigh Van Der Horst – you can read more about HERE.
