JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, the world’s tallest five-star hotel, is a luxury property centrally located in Downtown Dubai with a waterfront address overlooking the Dubai. Easily accessible just off the Sheikh Zayed Road, the seventy-two storey hotel offers over 1,600 rooms and suites set across two towers. Ideal for both leisure and business guests, the hotel extends the highest level of comfort, five-star dining, bars and entertainment options, a luxury spa, state-of-the art technology, business services, just about everything the discerning traveller requires and more.

We stayed for three nights in a deluxe corner suite on the executive floor of Tower A, an enormous, plush space with separate lounge, dining area, bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom with freestanding bath and rain shower. Tastefully decorated in neutral tones it was lavish and comfortable with luxury bedding and due to its location on the 55th floor amazing views of the city from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Bathroom amenities are provided by British luxury skin care brand Aromatherapy Associates. Guests staying on these floors, as well as Marriott Bonvoy members, benefit from access to the private executive lounges (one in each tower on level 38).

The executive lounge is the most elegant and spacious I’ve ever encountered in any Marriott property to date. Complimentary hot & cold breakfast (including made to order eggs of your choice) is served here along with afternoon tea, snacks and hot and cold beverages throughout the day (although there is no food between 5:00pm-6:30pm). There’s a very generous daily happy hour with alcoholic drinks, a live cooking station and a selection of savoury and sweet dishes. High speed wi-fi is available throughout the lounge as well as an adult-only business area.

With nine dining outlets there’s something for everyone from casual to fine dining as well four additional independent venues operated by third-parties. Lobby based 24-hour Café and Bakery, La Farine serves authentic French food and freshly baked pastries as well as homemade jams, continental cheeses, handmade chocolates, delicious desserts and cakes. Kitchen6 is the all-day dining restaurant with an international buffet and a la carte options with live cooking stations and where breakfast is served daily.

Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra offers an outstanding menu of innovative Indian cuisine and molecular gastronomy, a fusion of traditional Indian cooking with the latest modern methods and presentation with 12-course tasting menus available. Steakhouse Prime68 (Tower A) has a large selection of international prime cuts along with seafood paired with fine wines from around the globe. Step into the Amalfi Coast at Positano to enjoy fresh Italian coastal cuisine in a traditional trattoria setting.

Bangkok style restaurant Tong Thai, is an award-winning venue offering fragrant regional Thai cuisine and Izakaya (Japanese for Social Sushi) is an authentic restaurant with a robatayaki grill offering teppanyaki, noodles and sushi. Decorated in black and gold, Vault cocktail bar is at the top of Tower A on the 71st and 72nd floors with stunning views of Dubai below with a menu of premium mixology and beverages (including 100 varieties of premium vodka) and bar snacks. It has a very popular ladies night every Tuesday.

More casual spots include Bridgewater Tavern, the sports bar where fans can enjoy the lively atmosphere and screens showing live sporting and music events. There’s an extensive drinks menu and American style bar snacks. Café Artois at Bridgewater Tavern is an alfresco venue that makes the most of the stunning canal side views. The Lounge in the hotel’s lobby is adorned with colourful bottles and provides comfortable seating areas to relax and grab some drinks and light snacks throughout the day as well as traditional Arabic teas.

Tower B is home to two independent venues; premium North American steakhouse Weslodge Saloon on the 68th floor and Latin American paradise Hotel Cartagena, a fun colourful (very instagrammable) restaurant and bar, on the 72nd floor. Located on the ground floor entertainment level, Seven Sisters offers a gourmet food menu, creative mixology with canal views and 1OAK Dubai, the New York club opens until 3am.

Club Marquis is the third floor health and leisure club offering the latest fitness equipment, personal training and classes open 24/7 for hotel guests and club members from 6am to 10pm. The rooftop outdoor pool has plenty of sun loungers with poolside snacks, soft drinks and cocktails available from Aqua Poolside Grill and Bar. Saray Spa is a large, luxury facility decorated in a local style offering treatments and rituals including hammam. There’s a small shopping gallery that sells some luxury gifts, souvenirs and a convenience store for essentials.
