Abu Dhabi Art is a multidisciplinary art fair presenting iconic pieces by internationally renowned artists and unique artworks curated by emerging talent from established and newer galleries. The event will once again offer the local community the opportunity celebrate the cultural diversity of the UAE and to enjoy a diverse range of contemporary art from leading artists, galleries, curators as well as collectors from across the globe. Alongside the exhibits this popular annual event will offer a programme of engaging events curated to appeal to new audiences across all generations.

This year there are three different gallery categories, Modern and Contemporary will exhibit exceptional artworks, Special Projects encouraging participating galleries to focus on a curated presentation of either a solo or two artists and the third, Focus: Icons, is more niche and will showcase artworks by galleries who have been invited by the Focus curator Dr Omar Kholeif.

The Talks Programme will offer a series of cultural talks on the circulation of art and the global and local perspectives on the economy of the new art market. Ongoing projects Gateway, Beyond and Durub Al-Tawaya will both be exhibited from this weekend until January. Gateway is the visual art exhibition with a unique curatorial perspective from a guest curator each year, with 2018 being presented by Hammad Nasar. Distinguished Emirati artist Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim will be presenting a section entitled Beyond: Emerging Artists. Visitors and collectors will also be given the opportunity to engage with contemporary performance art through the sixth edition of Durub Al-Tawaya, Abu Dhabi Art’s performing arts programme which is once again curated by Tarek Abou El-Fetouh.
