Aqua Fun | A’l Bahar, Abu Dhabi

“The good thing about the parks is that they provide an actual workout. You can burn an estimated 500-900 calories an hour, while you are having fun with your friends.” Ahmed Ben Chaibah

There’s a new giant inflatable water park just opened at A’l Bahar located at the Corniche (opposite Nation Towers) and the good news is it’s NOT just for kids. If you fancy a water based challenge that’s also loads of fun check out Abu Dhabi’s largest floating water park.

The colourful obstacle course, that spells out I ♡ AD (I Love Abu Dhabi) from above, offers visitors the chance to slip and slide across the course, clamber up slides, run across bridges, swing on ropes and monkey bars and basically try to stay on your feet before jumping into the sea. One thing is for sure it’s certainly not as easy as it first looks from the shore, be prepared to be challenged, get dunked in the sea and exhausted hoisting yourself back up.

Aqua Fun was founded by local Emirati Ahmed Ben Chaibah who opened his first site last September at The Beach at JBR in Dubai (this one spells out DUBAI). He has now brought his successful buoyant concept to the Corniche to keep spreading the inflatable fun and offer more beach based activities in the capital.

All that’s required is a life jacket (which are provided) and lots of energy, numbers are limited to ensure maximum fun and there’s lifeguards on duty to ensure everyone is safe, especially reassuring for the parents of younger participants. Tickets are available for a single hour, unlimited day passes or group packages – click here for prices and information.

A’l Bahar is the new beachfront community leisure concept that’s being developed by Miral Asset Management (Yas Island developers) along a stretch of the Corniche. When completed it will offer a promenade with a selection of twenty food and beverage concessions (such as Stuffed Burger, Barbacoa, Depresso, CupaGahwa and Margherita) as well as retail stores housed in on-trend shipping containers. Entertainment wise there will be volleyball and basketball courts, an outdoor gym and a children’s play area, various community events will also be held here.

In further exciting news, popular local fitness companies Bodytree yoga & pilates and Haddins will also open studios at the site. Aqua Fun is the first activity to be operational along with some of the retail and food outlets like Haagen Dazs ice cream, which we tried purely for research purposes of course.
