Have you been down to Stills at the Crowne Plaza Yas Island lately? Lots of new exciting things have been happening at the pub that’s home to the longest bar in Abu Dhabi. Firstly there’s a brand new menu, a mega seven hour Friday Funch Brunch and now the latest concept, Stills Steak Wednesdays.
How does unlimited steak coupled with salad, desserts and a carafe of wine sound for a Wednesday night feast? The best bit, it’s all for just AED 225 per person for all you can eat, the other half’s favourite kind of meal. Steaks are cooked to order by the chefs in the Jack Daniels emblazoned outdoor kitchen, sweet potato and regular fries are available along with a help yourself style buffet offering a variety of sides and salads.
The selection of desserts will satisfy those with a sweet tooth or perhaps sample some of the delights from the cheeseboard. Vegetarians can accompany their meat eating friends and family and either chose from the buffet’s veggie options or order from the new al la carte menu which is also available alongside the steak promotion.
While the other half tucked into hunks of meat I opted for the new Stills Flatbread, a delicious and flavoursome dish that not only looked amazing but tasted really good too. Caramelised red onion, cherry tomatoes, feta, goats cheese, pesto, roquette topped with a balsamic glaze, I highly recommend trying that! For my main course I tried another new dish, the Quinoa Sliders. Three mini veggie sliders in mini soft buns topped with country-aged cheddar with toppings served with fries and coleslaw.
Other new dishes include the new healthier option of signature chilli chicken lettuce wraps, prime beef carpaccio, oven-roasted lamb chops, pan-seared sea bass and garlic prawn tacos. I can also recommend the HLT (Halloumi, lettuce, tomato), a veggie version of the popular BLT served on multigrain country loaf and the baby spinach salad that combines halloumi with strawberries and walnuts (can be served Vegan for any dairy free diners).
Fans of the Stills Burger will be pleased to hear it’s still appears on the new menu along with the selection of steaks and the 12-hour wagyu pie with Guinness gravy served with mash and cabbage, pub food at its best. There’s also a bites and sharing menu with some new options as well as meat and seafood platters. New desserts include a hot chocolate cake, the more unusual pina colada flavoured pannacotta served in a cocktail glass and a lemon citrus bar.
I really enjoyed the Stills Steak night concept even as a veggie. What’s not to love about an evening spent on a terrace enjoying an alfresco pub-style meal with unlimited food, a relaxed vibe and nice views across the water. Add in live music provided by the resident saxophonist wandering between the tables and a glass or two of wine, I’ve definitely had worst Wednesdays.
