“The island is Mykonos, the beach is Psarou and the slice of heaven that will captivate your senses and your heart is Nammos.” Nammos Mykonos
If you are seeking the ultimate beach club experience look no further than swanky Nammos Mykonos located at Psarou Beach on the Southern coast. Taking the top spot on Conde Nast Gold List as the World’s Best Beach Club for 2017 is quite the accolade, something that’s endorsed by its loyal celebrities and A-listers who frequent this stretch of shoreline while mooring their superyachts in the sheltered bay.
Nammos is a special place, a luxury beach club accessed by a steep winding road that offers jetsetters entertainment from day to night. Champagne fuelled parties, high-end dining experiences and a consummate level of service are what keeps Greece’s most famous beach club ahead of its competitors. Rows of blue and white Italian designed parasols line the pristine stretch of beach overlooking an expanse of clear blue Aegean Sea beyond with a backdrop of rocky cliffs sheltering the bay from the wind. Guests recline on plush mahogany sunloungers topped with Loro Piana mattresses, it was without a doubt the most comfortable lounger I’ve ever had the privilege to recline on.
Your every need is tended to by brisk and bronzed bikini clad servers, nothing is too much trouble. The beach menu offers light bites, fresh juices and cocktails ordered and enjoyed from the comfort of your lounger. Any speck of sand is discreetly brushed from your table, glasses are discreetly refilled and tiny pieces of floating debris removed from the sea by a man and his net.
Diners are offered an exquisite gastronomic experience at Nammos Restaurant that sits slightly elevated above the beach, a venue perfect for long leisurely lunches with a glass of chilled rose. The menu offers a variety of Mediterranean cuisine with very best seasonal ingredients and flavour combinations along with an extensive glitzy wine list. Fancy quaffing a Jeroboam of Armand de Brignac Brut Champagne? Or perhaps a Rehoboam of the distinctive gold bottle emblazoned with the Ace of Spades logo? Those feeling particularly showy and thirsty can order a Nebuchadnezzar that’s equivalent to twenty bottles or a Midas (30L/40 bottles) that comes with a six-figure price tag.
Freshly caught seafood from Nammos’ own fishing boat features heavily on the menu, along with beautifully presented sushi and it’s famed cuts of Wagyu and Kobe beef, vegetarians are also spoilt for choice. As guests of Nammos we were treated to the full VIP experience, front row loungers right on the water’s edge, welcome drinks and a prime spot for lunch in the restaurant where we were served some incredibly delicious food.
Freshly baked homemade bread with oregano dipped in olive oil and a glass of crisp dry rose were the perfect start. Appetisers of creamy mozzarella with tomatoes, pesto and balsamic, the sashimi topped with shaved truffle and salmon and prawn maki were followed by mains of crispy eggplant layered with feta and Greek tomato fritters served with yogurt dip. Scoops of light and fluffy milk and white chocolate mousse and coffee were the finale of a truly mouthwatering lunch.
While it maybe be famed as a hedonistic playground for the rich and famous especially in July and August where you may spot many a famous face or two, Nammos welcomes all guests, whether you arrive by private launch, helicopter (heli pad up on the cliff) or a regular taxi. Entrance is free but loungers come with a hefty price tag. Totally worth the outlay if you fancy a treat and plan to stay all day and into the evening, but be prepared to spend some serious moolah.
The summer soundtrack starts to crank up as the afternoon wears on and guests wearing designer bikinis and bling gravitate towards the bar to get the party started. Shisha lovers will be impressed by the dedicated smoking corner with a Middle Eastern shisha menu offering a range of flavours; shisha can also be enjoyed on your sunbed in or the restaurants.
Those looking for privacy can book one of the four 5,000 euro-a-day cabanas that include a private outdoor jacuzzi, champagne, wines and food served by your private butler and your own driver.
All the latest trends and international designer labels can be found at Nammos Village, a stylish retail destination for those looking to flex their credits cards on a shopping spree. Housed in five buildings surrounded by sculptures and immaculate gardens, visitors can wander from outlet to outlet offering clothes, accessories and beauty treatments. Who said Greece was in the midst of an economical crisis?
Nammos is a one-of-a-kind memorable experience like no other. Once the beach closes next month the party relocates to the French Alps to recreate its unique vibe in the snow at Nammos Courchevel 1850. The winter experience just like the summer will offer top class food, drinks and service, the only difference will be the designer beachwear will be exchanged for chic fur trimmed skiwear.
