Bean & Hop Earlsfield | London

Bean & Hop was created under the consideration that London roasts the best coffee & brews the most amazing beers, so why not have a local where you can enjoy the best of both worlds under one roof!Bean & Hop

Tucked away on a corner in London’s SW18 is a wonderful independent coffee shop called Bean & Hop (formerly The Earlsfield Deli). Good coffee, craft beers and seasonal fresh food are served seven days a week. I went on Monday lunchtime with friends and it was packed solid with yummy mummies and business folk.

This trendy little neighbourhood cafe on Earlsfield High Street serves coffee roasted by Nude Espresso Roastery (London’s leading micro roastery), craft beers from local and international brewers and a wide and varied selection of wines (wine and beer available for takeaway too) and cocktails. They also stock fresh bread, deli treats, homemade cakes (gluten free), tarts, pastries and Purbeck ice cream. Outside there’s a small pavement seating area if you don’t mind the high street traffic noise.

We took full advantage of the everyday brunch menu that is available until 3pm with a choice of Burford brown eggs and sides (such as avocado, chorizo or bacon) served on chunky sourdough bread. Good vegetarian options are available too, one of my friends enjoyed the sweet potato and halloumi stack served with beetroot hummus and sliced aubergine. Along with our coffees and teas we tried smoothies from the daily specials menu, one green and one mixed berry both of which were delicious and healthy. The restaurant has pizza nights three days a week and from the reviews I’ve read it’s a winning formula with pizzas and pizzetta made with sourdough bases. The extensive beer selection offers diners a choice of over seventy beers including some from local Wandsworth and Lambeth brewers. See the full menu here.

Light floods in from the full length windows, mismatched wooden furniture is paired with an eclectic mix of chairs and stools. Large blackboards provide diners with extra information and the wooden dressers are filled with wines and beers. A central table is well stocked with an array of retail products such as breads, oils, olives and artisan chocolate products, cakes are offered on slates to help yourself in an honesty system. Bean & Hop also run regular events like wine and beer tastings (see below for details of next event).

The staff were super friendly and welcoming, luckily they were happy for us to sit and gossip for hours. I love independent cafes and Bean & Hop is a great spot to sit and relax and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and drink great coffee, work on your laptop in a quiet corner, meet friends for drinks after work or grab some dinner with a craft beer or two, in short it’s an all rounder. If you find yourself in SW18 pop into Bean & Hop, their mission is to serve simple, delicious and interesting dishes accompanied by tasty coffee and beers, a perfect combination.
