“Why limit happy to an hour!” Unknown
So the definition of Happy Hour is a period of time in which a public venue, such as a restaurant or bar, offers discounts on alcoholic drinks, such as beer, wine, and cocktails and that pretty much sums up The Happiest Hours at Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, but instead of one hour it’s four!
You can enjoy discounted daily drinks at the stylish Yas Lounge located in the lobby, the Latitude and Longitude pool bars and then continue the party on the rooftop Skylite bar. Relax under the fabulous light-filled floating canopy on the ninth floor, watch the sunset and listen to the tunes of resident DJ Marc Betty while enjoying half price drinks and a range of delicious bar bites.
That’s right, half price wine, beer, sundowners and house spirits, even a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Brut NV champagne for a very reasonable 50% off, it’s a no-brainer right? A cheeky chilled Sauvignon Blanc after work, maybe a full-bodied glass of Pinot Noir or a summery Rosé or some of my favourite bubbles? Beers and a range of spirits are also available at equally amazing prices. Everyday the Yas Lounge and Latitude and Longitude Pool Bars offer the first instalment of the hotel’s Happiest Hours from 4pm – 6pm with the party continuing at Skylite from 6pm – 8pm.
In homage to the hotel’s unique location over the Grand Prix track and the forthcoming season ending race, the bar has introduced twelve cocktails that take you on a F1 journey around the world. Exclusively served at Skylite these signature cocktails have been designed to symbolise each of the countries renowned circuits starting in Australia with a Melbourne Swizzle and ending with a Yas Marina Golden Sour in Abu Dhabi, all half price too before 8pm.
The Senna De Silva, showcases the Interlagos racetrack in Brazil, a delicious mix of Brazilian Tipioca cachaca and Takamaka coconut rum based cocktail with lime, pineapple and guava. The other half choose the Santander High Tea, his favourite Hendricks Gin with lemon, mint, grapefruit, elderflower and tonic served in a fabulous traditional teapot and cups, flying the flag for the iconic Silverstone circuit in England. Next on my list to try is the Grand Prix Sling representing the Marina Bay track in Singapore and I like the sound of the champagne based La Rascasse from Monte Carlo, Monaco.
The well-presented Skylite bar snacks are a perfect accompaniment to the Happy Hour beverage menu. We tried a selection from the menu, mini beef burgers and spicy barbecue wings with paprika wedges for the other half and vegetable quiches and mixed vegetable tempura for me. With twelve savoury dishes to choose from along with three sweet treats it’s a perfect bar bites menu. Skylite is also a popular spot for smoking shisha, with seven singles and six mixed flavours available. Click here for the full beverage (including the F1 cocktails), food and shisha menu
The well-lit contemporary Yas Lounge, decorated in muted brown tones and gorgeous flower displays is a great place to relax and grab a bite to eat from the wide selection of indulgent baked goods including the rich dark chocolate Yas Cake all served with a wide range of teas, coffees and cold beverages as well as its Happy Hour selections.
Latitude and Longitude are pool bars located on the rooftop of the main building and marina wing respectively. Latitude is adjacent to the impressive infinite pool that’s perfect for family’s with an adjoining roof deck that transforms into a stylish lounge bar when the sun sets, it offers an all-day dining menu including an extensive range of drinks and shisha. Longitude is an adults only pool, the perfect peaceful place to relax and enjoy a menu of light snacks and drinks.
Also positioned on the rooftop of this iconic hotel, Skylite bar is an impressive canopy topped bar with the individual colour changing panels and views across the track, Yas Marina and Yas Island beyond. It’s always a great place to chill out and wow visitors too, the bar has a great ambiance with low sofas and booths and a stunning blue backlit well-stocked bar. DJ Betta, who originates from the Seychelles has vast experience entertaining guests at exotic locations all over the globe, hosts the capital’s partygoers with the best of lounge, chill out and house music every night of the week.
Make time in your busy week to pop over to Yas Viceroy to unwind and indulge in their Happiest Hours, with great tunes and an impressive beverage selection I don’t think you will be disappointed, we certainly enjoyed the fabulous F1 cocktails!
