“You are educated. Your certification is in your degree. You may think of it as the ticket to the good life. Let me ask you to think of an alternative. Think of it as your ticket to change the world.” Tom Brokaw
So last month my second son graduated from Brunel University exactly a year to the day of the eldest’s graduation last year. Another extremely proud and emotional day as we celebrated this momentous occasion with extended family and friends. The other half, mother-in-law and I attended the long, colourful ceremony in the converted Indoor Athletics Centre at the university itself in deepest, darkest Uxbridge, another tear jerking moment indeed. Candidates from the Economics, Finance, Brunel Business School, Politics and History collected their certificates and all the pomp and ceremony was concluded after an excellent, rousing and humorous speech by Professor. Amir Sharif.
After a glass of bubbly in the reception marquee and the obligatory family, fellow graduate and mortar board throwing photos we headed off in numerous taxi’s to central London for our post-ceremony celebration lunch at the fabulous Sky Garden in Fenchurch Street (read about it here). A couple of swift drinks in a nearby pub and we headed home leaving the youngsters to meet up with fellow graduates to celebrate into the wee small hours in Camden. Here’s my little photographic snippet of the day.
