Road-trips and Reunions

“It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

One of the best things about escaping the Abu Dhabi summer heat and having an extended trip home is catching up with friends. It may mean we are constantly on the move, clocking up mile after mile in the hire car but it’s worth every minute on the road (except my love/hate relationship with the M25) and I am so grateful for all the fantastic hospitality and laughs that this trip has given me/us.

The Cowshed Bar and Grill | Bristol

“Although it describes itself as a bar and grill, the Cowshed is about much more than simply steaks. The menu covers all bases, with eight starters and eight main courses before you even look at the list of steaks on offer.” Mark Taylor, Bristol Post

Minication | Brighton

“Brighton looks as though it is a town helping the police with their enquiries.” Keith Waterhouse

So it’s been very quiet on the blogging front due to two and a half weeks of being constantly on the move in our nomad existence, living out of suitcases (I’ve slept in eight different beds in just over fourteen days) with limited or no decent wifi connectivity, but I’m back and you will now be inundated with my ramblings and visually overpowered with my recent activities.

Bristol is Gert Lush

“Imagine a city where graffiti wasn’t illegal, a city where everybody could draw whatever they liked. Where every street was awash with a million colours and little phrases. Where standing at a bus stop was never boring.” BANKSY

Last week we went on a little two-day road trip to Bristol to visit my eldest son, who has just returned to the city for his final year at university, as well as a spot of shopping, sightseeing and catching up with extended family.
