BOA Steakhouse Supper Club | Abu Dhabi

Too many people just eat to consume calories. Try dining for a change.” John Walters

The trouble with high expectations is the higher risk of disappointment. We were invited to try BOA Steakhouse‘s Supper club, a relatively new concept here in the capital introduced in the summer, I have heard great things about BOA so I tempted the other half with tales of juicy steaks unaware that the supper club menu does not include the restaurant’s usual famed cuts of meat. Factor in the late starting time of 9:30pm and you have yourself a hungry dining companion, or is that ‘hangry’!

Supper Club takes place every Thursday evening in BOA’s chic and stylish lounge area that is furnished with low level leather seating and casual dining tables.  The menu offers a tapas style selection of smaller sharing dishes, six or seven courses of them to be precise so there is certainly no shortage of food. The staff were very friendly and efficient, our glasses were constantly topped up with free-flowing house beverages which is worth the cover charge in itself.

Apart from a small faux pas where I was served a aubergine dish that contained meat in error, we enjoyed a selection of both meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes but sadly no dessert course. The other half may not have got his promised full-sized juicy steak but he certainly got lots of dishes to choose from that included among other things crunchy vegetable sticks, prawn crackers, tortilla chips and dips, a mini steak portion with mash, beef slider, chicken and shrimps.

The Supper Club menu will change and be continually rotated to keep things interesting. In all honestly my specially made veggie options were too heavy on the garlic for my tastebuds (not a big garlic fan) except the burrata with strawberries which was delicious. I don’t feel the supper club gave a true representation of the restaurant’s reputation or menu, but I liked the overall concept and had a lovely evening nonetheless.

Originating in Los Angeles BOA Steakhouse is a celebrity favorite, the Abu Dhabi branch is only the third location to open worldwide and the first one in the Middle East. The other two are beachside in Santa Monica and on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Abu Dhabi’s BOA has a fantastic location at the Eastern Mangroves Promenade, a great setting with views across the mangroves and capital’s skyline beyond combined with a contemporary interior and a comfortable outdoor terrace area.

The atmosphere is chilled with a DJ setting the vibe and with unlimited food and free flowing alcohol it’ a great way to finish off the working week and start off the weekend in style. If that idea floats your boat then the Supper Club at BOA Steakhouse just might be your perfect option, my advice, give it a go for yourself.
