September Specials is a new feature available this month at popular cafe chain, Leopold’s of London. This newly introduced homely style menu offers diners a selection of six dishes with a breakfast board, four appetiser’s and a sweet treat to choose from.

IMG_6681Always a popular place, Leopold’s of London has positioned itself as a go to venue for the UAE’s discerning diners across its four venues in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This busy chain attracts a good mix of locals and expats who enjoy the selection of healthy, delicious and seasonal food available on its regular menu, a fantastic array of fresh juices, a vast selection of teas from the Tea Library and speciality coffee lab. During the day it’s a perfect spot for breakfast or somewhere to grab a coffee and a pastry, at night this contemporary space turns into a brassiere and is currently offering a September Specials menu alongside its standard menu choices.

I was invited to try out this seasonal menu, choosing the Nation Towers Galleria branch to combine our visit with the new Vox cinema that opened there over the summer. We started off with two of the delicious organic juices, I selected a simple fresh pineapple juice and the other half had a green Boast Juice, The Skin Toner a spinach cooler blended with cucumber, pineapple and coconut water.

IMG_6697Hot smoked salmon was served with a roasted red pepper emulsion, quinoa crumble, roasted carrots, fennel and peas was the other half’s first dish of choice which was not only beautifully presented but also I’m reliability informed tasted as good as it looked. He also selected Pizza al Tonno, a more unusual choice for him as he’s not the biggest pizza fan but he devoured the Spanish tuna chunks, tomato confit, ligurian olives, lemon zest and fresh mozzarella cheese topped pizza with a lot with lots of appreciate noises, claiming it to be really tasty!

leopolds 1Luckily for me my favourite eggplant parmigiana makes an appearance on the September Specials menu. The mini Italian vegetarian dish was served in a cast iron pot, accompanied by garlic bread and a green side salad. I also ordered a side dish of thick-cut fries, don’t judge me I was hungry! In order to give a full and fair review, I felt it was necessary for us to try the sweet course, a classic Black Forest Cake that was absolutely ginormous, honestly the biggest piece of moist, cherry enriched chocolate cake I have even seen, completely delicious but a massive calorie overload!

Also on the special’s menu is a comprehensive breakfast board offering a varied selection of hot smoked salmon, turkey ham, avocado, lemon scented ricotta, confit asparagus, roasted tomatoes and poached eggs with grilled bread along with a mini pot of rhubarb yoghurt. The other appetiser that we didn’t taste test was the Buttermilk Fried Chicken that is served with a classic slaw, soft rolls and pickles.IMG_6690

We finished our meal with tea from the Tea Library which offers an enormous variety of teas. Served like a scientific experiment, the spectacle of the taking of tea at Leopold’s comes with an individual sand-timer for infusing the tea to its own specific brewing time. I had an alternative to my usual English Breakfast recommended by our server the Leopold’s Gentleman’s Tea, a full bodied and malty Assam tea and the other half enjoyed a mild flavoured decaffeinated Ceylon tea as it was later in the evening. Coffee lovers can enjoy freshly brewed delights using the finest beans and speciality blends sourced from around the world.

A baked goods section with a large range of freshly baked cakes and pastries, sits alongside the kitchen where hot and cold dishes are prepared, a pizza oven with freshly brewed coffees and speciality teas the perfect accompaniment to the varied menu choices. I recommend you pop down this month and try out the September Specials, don’t forget to try the cake and tea 😉
