Weekly Photo Challenge: Layers

Like pebbles on a beach. Kicked around, displaced by feet.” Paul Weller

The brief for this weeks photo challenge is Layers. The Daily Post said “Layers can reveal, conceal, and make something more complex. They can vary in size, texture, color, or functionality. Each layer can have its own story, meaning, or purpose. They can overlap, blend, or be distinctly separate. A layer doesn’t have to be a part of a single object but can even be a slice of a multifaceted image or scene

My first thought was to post some photos of flowers with their layers of petals or the layers of bark on a palm tree but I decided that was too obvious and lots of people have already posted entries displaying some great floral photos. My next thought was photos from our skiing holidays, showing us wearing layers and layers of clothing, but that seemed too literal. So I am using some photos that I took on a mini-break to Hove with some friends back in the summer.

Layers and layers of pebbles on Hove beach each noticeably different in size, colour and texture, layers of paint and sea spray on the brightly coloured beach huts and layers of history on the burnt out old Brighton Pier, peeling off one by one as attacked by the weather and the sea.
