“Defined by Nature led by Science.” Elemis

When you live in a harsh desert climate like that of the UAE it’s enviable that your skin and hair suffer from the intense heat, humidity and the constant blast of air-conditioning. My rapidly decreasing age doesn’t help either so the only possible remedy is decamping to the nearest spa to be pampered and my latest visit was to sample a new style and much needed facial. Nicola, the lovely spa manager at Heavenly Spa at the The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa invited me to try out their newest Elemis BioTec facial, so off I trotted very excited at the prospect of smoother, younger looking skin and an hour or two of me time.

A haven of tranquility and wellbeing, Heavenly Spa is exclusively offering clients the latest Elemis BioTec treatments, a range of unique hands on facials that deliver immediate, visible and longer-lasting results. Naturally sourced ingredients are combined with science and technology to reduce fine lines and wrinkles (clinically proved to reduce fine lines by and wrinkles by 68% and 100% women felt there was visible difference), happy days!

After a very warm welcome at the spa, which is located in its own wing of the hotel to the right of the lobby, I was presented with a refreshing cold towel and red fruit drink that was delicious and refreshing, consumed while I filled in my consultation form (pet hate those age boxes, considered a little white lie but guessed my wrinkles would give me away). I was then taken to my treatment room via the changing room to get in my robe, at this point newcomers are given a tour of the facility but I declined as I’ve been already been for a massage at this facility, then introduced to my lovely therapist, Ita.

After a brief introduction to the machine and technology that offers seven different Spa Power Booster Facials treatments, Ita explained the various products that she would be using. My personal skin consultation concluded that my skin was tired and dull looking (translate that as old and knackered me thinks. warning make-up free selfie later in this post) so Ita recommended that a Radiance-boosting, bio-electric facial would be a perfect treatment to energise my tired, dull and stressed skin.

So what’s it all about? Elemis Biotec facials are delivered in sixty minutes sessions at Heavenly Spa and it’s recommended that clients have one facial every three weeks in courses of either six or ten treatments depending on which one is best for your skin type and concerns. Every Biotec facial combines a unique high-potency activator and specially designed Elemis Skin Lift Touch. Using the power of hands-on therapy, the Skin Lift Touch softens and prepares the skin. Significantly improving skin function, it enables it to convert energy from each technology and enables the skin to be more receptive to the actives, whilst re-balancing the skin’s micro-flora.

The treatment deeply exfoliated my face with two types of technology. Firstly an ultrasonic peel followed by a galvanic current that re-energised and revitalised my skin with the wonderfully fragrant rosewood, lavender and lime aromas of the products. My skin looked more radiant and luminous, my face felt plumped and moisturised, it was also supposed to reduce dark circles around eyes and while they looked much better mine are so dark that I may need to return, often!

The treatment felt fantastic, the sensations were much more delicate than I expected just a light suction and wave feelings combined with a fabulous smelling mask and products. This non-invasive and indulgent treatment is ideal for older skin but also perfect for those who are just feeling tired and stressed out too. My skin felt soft, silky and hydrated which was excellent, this facial is clinically proven to increase skin smoothness by 43% after just one treatment.

Here’s the technical bit……Elemis BioTec facials offers seven super-charged treatments using five advanced technologies from one machine that work in perfect synergy with the skin’s natural bio-electric field. My treatment utilised two of the technologies. firstly the ultrasonic peel that used the spatula’s highly effective Piezoelectric current (with 27,000 vibrations per second through a quartz/ceramic head) to draw out impurities in the skin, both deep cleansing and gently exfoliating the surface’s impurities and pigmentation while stimulating collagen production to minimise the appearance of fine lines and accelerate blood and lymphatic circulation to aid the healing process.

The Galvanic rejuvenation part was a two-step treatment that works synergistically with positive and negative charged ions to minimise the symptoms of ageing bought on by stress and tiredness that cause fine lines, dullness, photo-ageing, sensitivity and blemishes. In step one it combines negatively charge ions and actives, resulting in them repelling one another, causing them to force out impurities and deep cleanse the skin. Then in step two both positive and negative ions are applied to the skin to stimulate and redistribute the skin’s natural energy, instantly rejuvenating it. Micro current lift, L.E.D light therapy rebalance and oxygen infusion are the other three technologies available.

Ita was both professional and knowledgable delivering a fantastic treatment and overall experience using the worldwide renowned Elemis products and latest technology. This type of facial was completely new to me and I loved it, I felt rejuvenated and pampered and I will definitely have more to help combat the wrinkles! Post treatment I reclined in the relaxation area and drank camomile tea while munching on healthy oat cookies. The luxurious facility is delightfully contemporary place, peaceful and has a relaxed atmosphere with six treatment rooms nestled in the resort’s lush gardens. All the staff that I encountered were friendly, polite and professional and everything was spotlessly clean.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed everything about my Heavenly experience. The unique fusion of actives, touch and technology of the Elemis BioTec facial is available exclusively at Heavenly Spa and I highly recommend popping along to give this new treatment a try, after all who doesn’t like being pampered while challenging the ageing process too. Remember ladies you can enjoyed a selection of BioTech facials but can also treat the man in your life to a super-charge facial designed just for men.
