It’s another big sporting weekend ahead on Yas Island as the 2022 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championships makes its debut at Yas Links golf course.
The 17th edition of the popular four-day event, which runs from Thursday 20th until Sunday 23rd January, has switched from its usual home at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club to Yas Links. The Troon team at Yas Links have been business prepping the course to be in tip top condition ready for the inaugural event. This is a new chapter for the prestigious tournament that attracts the world’s top golfers and an abundance of golf fans.
The tournament is the first of the 2022 DP World Tour season and the opening Rolex Series event with a huge $8 million prize fund. Some of the world’s top players will be in action with the likes of Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Ian Poulter, Rory McIlroy and defending champion Tyrrell Hatton all hoping to raise the Falcon trophy.
Alongside all the on-course action there will be entertainment for all the family in the village throughout the weekend. Daniel Stuart Batchelor will perform on Thursday evening and spectators wearing red on Red Friday will receive a free coffee or ice-cream. There will be live music from local favourites The International Playboys, a falcon display and the Trick Shot boys will be in action.
Saturday is Ladies Day with complimentary drinks*, a ladies golf clinic and free spa vouchers from the Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island up for grabs. Winner of the best dressed lady will win two business class flights. Brian McFadden, former member of Westlife, will be headlining Ladies Day so look out for him if you fancy a sing-a-long. In partnership with No More Bottles, hands-free filtered water systems will be available on and off the course to allow spectators to refill reusable water bottles or reusable/recyclable cups. Visitors are advised to bring their own reusable water bottles or buy one of the limited number available for purchase.
