Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas | UAE

β€œRelax in the luxury of an island sanctuary, providing a residential feel with the UAE’s cultural touches, and enjoy the stunning views of the Arabian Sea.” Hyatt

The current international travel restrictions don’t have to stop Abu Dhabi residents enjoying that holiday feeling. With many luxury hotels and resorts offering great deals residents can enjoy a staycation right on our doorstep. The multi award winning Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas, an impressive beachfront property on Saadiyat Island, has implemented social distancing measures to ensure a safe stay.

Palm tree lined pools, pristine private beach, luxury spa, kids club and varied dining options make this elegant five-star hotel is the ideal place to relax. The vast resort has 306 rooms, suites and villas. We stayed in a spacious sea view room with private furnished balcony offering an incredible panorama of the gardens, pools, beach below and the Arabian Gulf beyond.

Decorated in neutral tones, the room had an open-plan bathroom with standalone bath, rain shower, separate toilet and dual sinks. Amenities included bespoke Le Labo toiletries in the hotel’s signature bergamot orange fragrance.

The jewel in the hotel’s crown is its much photographed statement pool lined with palm trees and cabanas. The adult only pool is the perfect relaxation spot and where we based ourselves. Additional pools are set within the lush, manicured gardens offering more privacy and the family pools have plenty of loungers.

While the pools and beach are open as usual the pool bar and towel service has been adapted. A scaled down food and beverage menu is available via What’s App, an easy and efficient service delivered to your lounger. Towels are available in the room not at the pool/beach but we were not informed of this at check-in. We went back to the room to collect them as instructed but discovered there were none there, a tad annoying but not unresolvable.

Besides its amazing location, my two favourite things about this hotel are the Beach House restaurant and Atarmia Spa both of which are sadly closed due to coronavirus restrictions. No delicious Meditternean cuisine or relaxing massages for us on this visit. The CafΓ©, which serves Middle Eastern and international cuisine, offered some of the Beach House dishes but it wasn’t up the same and the restaurant lacked atmosphere. I was keen to have sundowners at the hotel’s new Shala Lounge but I was informed prior to arrival that it was also temporarily closed.

Breakfast slots have to booked on arrival. We dined at the hotel’s signature restaurant, The Park Grill and although social distancing measures were in place, the queuing system was chaotic. Overall the staff did manage to offer their best service in difficult times. The breakfast buffet was a parred down version displayed behind plastic screens along with a la carte options. The restaurant is also open for dinner from Thursday to Saturday offering a menu of steaks and seafood. The Park Bar is open daily from noon to midnight but The Library tea lounge is currently closed.

If you are looking for a safe, socially distanced staycation on a stretch of pristine private beach then the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas is definitely be a contender.
