Friday brunching the Italian way is certainly an indulgent affair at Roberto’s Abu Dhabi. The contemporary restaurant, located in The Galleria Mall concourse below the Rosewood hotel, has launched its new brunch concept, a generous sharing feast of classic dishes every Friday afternoon from noon onwards.

Proceedings start decadently with freshly shucked French fine de Claire oysters from the Crudi Bar followed by sharing antipasti dishes all served at once. Among the variety of dishes, I was delighted to see the Roberto’s Eggplant Parmigiana (which I didn’t share) alongside a caprese of creamy burrata and ripe vine tomatoes, crispy fried calamari, margherita pizza and a mixed fish tartare.

Next up was the sharing primo piatto, a very tasty vivid green pea risotto and fusilli pasta with pecorino cheese sauce and black pepper. Secondi aka mains are chosen from an a la carte selection of three meat, three fish and three vegetarian dishes. We opted for grilled seabass fillet al cartoccio (cooked and served in a paper wrapper) with crispy sour vegetables and the zucchini flower stuffed with cheese, truffle and sun-dried tomatoes. Other options included baked sea bream, grilled salmon, beef stew, lamb tenderloin and a whole artichoke with truffle.

The food selection is top-notch and so is the service, the servers are attentive without being intrusive offering breaks between courses and discreeting topping up drinks. As a self-confessed sweeth tooth gal, I must admit to being disappointed with the final course, Roberto’s has some fantastic Italian desserts and I would have liked something chocolatey or their classic tiramisu instead of the sponge cake and fruit.

Roberto’s here in the capital is such a lovely place to dine. It may not be the busiest brunch in Abu Dhabi but if you are looking for delicious classic Italian cuisine accompanied by fine wines then this is the place for you. Sit back and enjoy the great hospitality, relaxed vibe and the medley of 90’s tunes provided by the resident DJ.
