Who doesn’t like saving money while having fun? A buy-one-get-one free deal at a top restaurant, for a new activity and an exciting experience is always a bonus. As a new expat eight years ago I purchased my first copy of The Entertainer book, as that was how it was available back in 2009, and started saving immediately on dining, activities and experiences.

I have been a loyal user of the Abu Dhabi product ever since, buying it annually now in its handy app form so it’s always to hand on my mobile device and easy to share with family members. Even though The Entertainer, created by Australian entrepreneur Donna Benton in 2001, started in Dubai it’s now available across forty destinations and fifteen countries to be precise. Throughout the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia there are vouchers to the best restaurants, activities, attractions, spas and worldwide hotels. With such diversity of vouchers available including such things as car services, car rental, optical services, teeth whitening and language courses, it’s always worth checking your app before you do anything.

My favourite feature is the sharing capability that’s perfect for grownup families like mine so everyone can access vouchers on their phones wherever they are and save money with their friends. Location software shows you the offers available nearby and a savings tracker keeps a running total of just how much you are saving. The app is a fantastic savings companion and a must have for all expats in my opinion especially now you can have instant access to your offers on your smartphone (as long as you have battery left of course). Redeeming a voucher is really quick, easy and efficient, just enter a four digit pin number and then the retailers enter their pin and it’s job done.

Additional monthly offers pop-up on your phone including brunch offers and selected deals that are really good. The app search function allows you to search offers by category, area, outlet, cuisine, location or even by attributes such as whether the venue has halal, shisha, valet parking and even Wi-Fi. World-class hotel chains, restaurants and car rental companies are just some of the categories that are available with the Entertainer App.

The Entertainer is continually evolving and now alongside all the fabulous dine-in options you can even enjoy some of your favourite food delivered straight to your door using the new Delivery tab. Monthly offers are continually updated and new partners come on board all the time, just this month newly opened Loca at Al Maryah Island, Indian Peppermill, Australian favourite Jones the Grocer to name a few were added on the Abu Dhabi app. The Social Room at Marina Social and Qasr Al Sultan, located just past the new Dubai Parks and Resorts are two of the latest merchants on the Dubai product.
