‘I believe in manicures.’ Audrey Hepburn

I was asked by Time Out Abu Dhabi to review the Tips and Toes branch located in Yas Mall. My pre-festive treatments included a gelish manicure and pedicure so my nails were looking tip top in time for all the Christmas festivities.

The Experience – A fantastic welcome by reception staff upon my arrival was the perfect start to the two-hour treatment. As a regular Tips and Toes customer I already have acrylic nails with gelish so the process began with soaking and filing as part of the removal process. First things first, it was time for the complimentary beverage of choice and to select my chosen colour from the wide range of gelish polishes available. I decided to swap my festive red to a deep wintery maroon colour entitled, quite fittingly I thought ‘All About Me’. The treatment uses high quality products and includes hand and feet cleaning, exfoliation for the feet and dead skin removal, nail filing and shaping, cuticle cutting and a relaxing post treatment foot and hand massages, all executed by the professional therapists.

The results – Beautifully looking hands and feet with perfectly painted nails, I even had a cheeky festive snowflake painted on one big toe nail to try out the nail art that’s available at all Tips and Toes salons across the UAE.

Pros – The salon is clean and comfortable furnished with the purple, red and gold décor that adorns every Tips and Toes branch. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient.  I left with my nails looking good and feeling relaxed. Gelish polish is quick and easy to apply, dries quickly and generally lasts longer than normal polish, in my experience it is also more chip resistant.

Cons – Even though gelish nail polish is generally more hard wearing it takes a quite while to remove in comparison to standard polish. Prolonged and continuous treatments does tend to dry out nails and causes them to be thinner over time, trust me I know but having nicely painted colourful nails is additive!

Tips and Toes offers much more than just nail care with a full array of award winning and renowned services and packages in an intimate setting that includes massages, facials, skincare, hair removal and all things eyebrows and lashes, some branches also offer hair services and hamman. Including the Yas Mall location, Tips and Toes has seven branches across Abu Dhabi, its newest location being at Falah 2 and twenty-six branches in total across four emirates that includes Nail Havens, Day and Signature Spas and a Deluxe Villa. An in-house training academy was launched in 2012 to ensure the ongoing education of its staff, quality of treatments and customer service, all of which has earned the salon empire a clutch of awards in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
