In Pictures | Abu Dhabi Art 2015

We believe art is part of history and part of the growth of this country.” Alanood Al Hammadi

This year’s Abu Dhabi Art started yesterday at Manarat Al Saadiyat located in Saadiyat Cultural District and throughout the city, it will run until Saturday 21st November. The seventh edition of this annual event presents a selection of modern and contemporary art displayed by forty established galleries from around the world as well as a programme of performances, a series of discussions, workshops and experiences.

Emirati Expressions: Conventions of Arts is an eclectic exhibition of the work of fifteen Emirati artists. The exhibition is divided into five sections with leading artists, galleries, curators and collectors displaying their pieces in the Modern, Contemporary and Design Galleries,Β Signature is a solo show presented by participating galleries, Beyond is a public art platform presenting large scale sculptures and installations, Bidaya (meaning beginning in Arabic) is an award given to one emergent gallery and Artist Waves is an artist-led exhibition inviting the public to get interactive.

From a modern day contemporary interpretation of the Terracotta Warriers by Yue Minjun to bright neon signs by Martin Creed, there’s something for everyone’s taste at this year’s Abu Dhabi Art. Here’s my highlights in pictures, if you are in Abu Dhabi make sure you pop along before the art fair closes on Saturday. Emirati Expressions will be on display at Manarat Al Saadiyat until 31st March 2016.
