In Pictures | Faces of Bali

One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” Henry Miller

The great thing about travelling is not only the opportunity to explore new places but also meeting the natives. The Balinese are really friendly and welcoming, residing in close knit family units focused on Hindu worship in temples and content in their existence working in the surrounding rice and agricultural fields. Although the island may have changed over recent years with the tourist industry dominating the economy, bringing the development of luxury hotels, souvenir shops and an influx of foreign visitors, the people have stayed true to their traditional values. Here’s a snapshot of some of the lovely people we encountered on our recent trip across the island.
