In Pictures | Walk For Diabetes

Diabetes affects more than 350 million people in the world. Many will suffer from its debilitating complications and die prematurely.”ย Ban Ki-moon

Today is World Diabetes Day and last week weekend I took part in the ‘Take A Step For Diabetes’ walk at the Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island with a friend. An incredible 21,000 people took a MASSIVE 150,000 million steps, participating in the event that encouraged everyone regardless of age, gender, size, nationality and stamina to walk around the F1 track to raise awareness of the disease that affects 350 million people worldwide and is a large problem here in the UAE.

The event was sponsored by Imperial College London Diabetes Health Centre and Daman Health insurance specialists. One lucky walker scooped a 10,000 dirham cheque for the best photograph taken and uploaded during the walkย to social media with theย #Walk2014 hashtag, needless to say it wasn’t me with the photo of my trainers! Here’s a selection of my photos from the event.
